Mar 14, 2002 It definitly rode better. The Ford is harsh(I tamed it somewhat by Monroe RV shocks on the front). People talking about gas mileage on this forum have about the same numbers as the V10. There is a good comparison by someone on this forum today about taking a V10 and 8.1 up the same stretch of road with grades and the winner was close to even.
6.8L V10 Triton vs 6.0L V8 for towing/abuse/farm work?
I know I should probably compare the V10 to Chevys 8.1L Big Block, but I'm having an easier time finding V10 fords over Big Block Chevys.
We are planning on buying a 3/4 Ton for farm use. 75% of the time it will be used to tow or haul shit in the bed. The V10 puts out more Torque and power than the 6.0L, but I know the 6.0L can handle a ton of abuse and still be fairly reliable.
The other thing is the rest of the truck. The Chevys have Independent front suspension, while the Fords have the solid front axles.
